This project certainly wasn’t our usual kind of thing, but then the brief that Hyde Park Book Club presented was intriguingly different.

Design & build a new and long-sought-after toilet block, including a desperately needed accessible toilet, creating a space that blends with the venue’s honest and industrial style, while also thoughtfully addressing concerns about graffiti.

An interesting challenge was to finish them in a way that discourages tagging, ensuring the space remains welcoming and vibrant without becoming dark or oppressive.

We approached this through the use of made to order industrial steel mesh panels that were lifted off the floor, set away from the walls and had a bright coloured powder coated finish. Paired with cohesive square tiling and matching black paint & grout, with added pops of red colour to pick out the companies branding.
